The Senate has approved the harmonised conference committee report on four key tax reform bills aimed at overhauling Nigeria’s tax administration system.
This followed the adoption of the report presented by Senator Mohammed Sani Musa, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, who also led the Senate team in the joint conference committee with the House of Representatives.

The committee was set up to reconcile differences in the versions of the bills passed by both chambers of the National Assembly.
The tax reform bills, transmitted to the National Assembly in November 2024 by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, include:
- The Joint Revenue Board (Establishment) Bill, 2025 (SB. 583)
- The Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Bill, 2025 (SB. 584)
- The Nigeria Tax Administration Bill, 2025 (SB. 585)
- The Nigeria Tax Bill, 2025 (SB. 586)
The passage of the harmonised bills is expected to enhance revenue generation, streamline tax processes, and improve the efficiency of Nigeria’s tax system.
