…VC Urges Students to Leverage NELFUND to Ease Financial Burden

Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology (BOUESTI), Ikere-Ekiti, has commenced activities for the 2026/2027 academic session with the resumption of newly admitted students.

A statement by the University’s spokesperson, Mr. Temitope Akinbisoye, said returning students are expected back on campus on November 1, 2026.
According to the statement, fresh students arrived on campus with visible excitement and high expectations, making efforts to complete hostel accommodation formalities and settle into their new academic environment.
He noted that for many of them, the resumption marks the beginning of a long-awaited journey towards fulfilling their academic dreams and building a solid foundation for their future careers, reflecting the significance of gaining admission and the opportunities the University offers for learning and personal development.
In a boost to student welfare, a newly constructed 72-bed hostel facilitated by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) is now ready for use. The facility is expected to enhance the institution’s accommodation capacity and improve living conditions on campus.
Speaking on student welfare, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Babatunde Omojola, reaffirmed the commitment of the University Management to creating an environment where students can pursue their academic ambitions with fewer challenges.

He encouraged students to take advantage of the Federal Government’s Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) initiative, which provides eligible students with financial assistance for their education.
According to him, the scheme offers an opportunity to ease the financial burden of higher education on parents and guardians, allowing students to concentrate more on their studies.
Professor Omojola urged students to familiarise themselves with the requirements and application procedures of the scheme and take necessary steps to benefit from it, while reiterating that students’ welfare remains a top priority of his administration.
He stressed the need for cooperation among Management, students and other stakeholders in building a peaceful and conducive academic community.
