President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated three individuals to fill existing vacancies on the board of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).
The nominees are Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle from Oyo State, Kennedy Ikpeme from Cross River State, and Justice Ibrahim Buba, a retired Federal High Court judge.
This development was announced by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a statement issued on Tuesday.
According to Onanuga, the appointments are aimed at strengthening the bureau’s oversight mechanisms.
The announcement was formally communicated to the Senate President through an official letter from President Tinubu. The CCB, established in 1979, is tasked with promoting integrity within public service and ensuring adherence to ethical standards across the country.
The Bureau operates with a 10-member board, which is pivotal in driving its mission. On October 23, 2024, President Tinubu swore in the board’s chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Usman Bello.
The current board members include Barr. Muritala Aliyu Kankia, Hon. E. J. Agbomayinma, Barr. Ben Umeano, and Prof. Juwayriyya Badamasiuy. Other members are Mr. Bulus I. Zephaniah and Hon. Abdulsalam Taofiq Olawale.
These new nominations, once confirmed, are expected to enhance the board’s capacity to uphold transparency and accountability within Nigeria’s public service.
