Middle-Aged Man Arraigned In Kaduna For Alleged Body Harm, Others

The police has arraigned a middle-aged man, Dahiru Mohammed, before an Upper Customary Court in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, for allegedly causing bodily harm and inciting disturbances.

Mohammed, is being arraigned on a five counts of criminal conspiracy, criminal force, assault, causing bodily harm and inciting disturbances.

The offence, the police said, contravenes the provisions of Sections 58, 337, 376, 215 and 78 of the Penal Code Law of Kaduna State.

The Police prosecutor, Insp Esther Bishen, told the Court that the complainants, William John and Micah Yohanna, reported the matter at the station on May 10.

Bishen said the defendant and others, now at large, attacked Zankang youths with cutlasses while they were working on a mining site located between Zankang and Dokwa communities, thereby inflicting injuries on the stomach of one Emmanuel Augustine. 

When the charges were read to the defendant, he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor thereafter prayed the court for an adjournment to enable the police call witnesses to prove their case against the defendant.

In his ruling, the Presiding Judge, George Gwani, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100, 000 and two sureties in like sum.

Gwani adjourned the matter until June 22 for hearing.
