A Grade I Area Court in Karu, Abuja, has ordered two friends be remanded in a correction centre for allegedly knocking out neighbour’s tooth.
The police charged Bamidele Kolawole and Daniel Stephen with joint act assault and mischief.
The Judge, Mr Umar Mayana, deferred bail for the defendants.
He adjourned the case until June 26 for ruling in the bail application.
Mayana ordered that the defendants should be remanded in a Nigerian Correctional Service facility in Keffi, Nasarawa State.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Mr Olanrewaju Osho told the court that the matter was reported by Philip Lorgan the defendant’s neighbour.
Osho told the court that on May 6, they beat up the complainant and knocked out his tooth.
Osho also added that due to serious injury the defendants inflicted on the complainant, he was taken to the hospital for treatment.
He said that the complainant spent N57, 000 to treat himself.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 79 and 327 of the Penal Code.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge.
