President Bola Ahmed Tinubu returned to Abuja on Saturday night after completing a two-week diplomatic mission to Saint Lucia and Brazil.
The President was received at the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport by top government functionaries, including the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku; Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle; National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; former Sokoto State Governor, Senator Aliyu Wamakko; and Alhaji Ibrahim Masari.

President Tinubu had departed Abuja on June 28, beginning his tour with a state visit to Saint Lucia, where he participated in activities marking the Caribbean nation’s 45th Independence Anniversary. The visit was aimed at deepening diplomatic ties with the Caribbean and promoting South-South cooperation.
From Saint Lucia, the President proceeded to Brazil on July 4 to attend the 2025 BRICS Summit, which took place in Rio de Janeiro between July 6 and 7. The summit brought together leaders of emerging economies to deliberate on sustainable development and global economic reform.
His return flight, aboard a San Marino-registered Boeing Business Jet (REG: T7-NAS), departed Galeão International Airport in Rio de Janeiro at 12:50 p.m. local time (4:50 p.m. Nigerian time) and landed in Abuja later the same day.
This latest international engagement adds to President Tinubu’s extensive foreign outreach since assuming office in May 2023. The President has so far embarked on at least 41 foreign trips, visiting no fewer than 28 countries across Africa, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas.
France remains his most frequented destination with six visits, followed by the United Kingdom (four times) and the United Arab Emirates (three times). Other countries visited include the United States, China, India, and Saudi Arabia, reflecting the administration’s emphasis on global partnerships, economic diplomacy, and bilateral cooperation.
The President’s travels have spanned various purposes, including economic forums, state visits, diplomatic summits, and strategic bilateral meetings.
