Tinubu Declares National Mourning, Orders FEC Session in Buhari’s Honours

As part of the mourning protocol, all national flags are to fly at half-mast from Sunday, July 13, to Saturday, July 19.

In addition, Tinubu has summoned an emergency session of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) for Tuesday, July 15, to honour his predecessor.

In a personally signed tribute, Tinubu described Buhari as “a patriot, a soldier, and a statesman” whose disciplined leadership and anti-corruption stance will remain part of Nigeria’s democratic history.

He also spoke with the late president’s widow, Aisha Buhari, offering condolences to the family and people of Katsina State.

The President assured that the Federal Government will give Buhari a befitting state honour.
