A middle-aged man, Francis Adewunmi, has allegedly attacked his wife with a machete, inflicting a deep cut on her head in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, before fleeing the scene.
The victim, who is demanding justice, said her husband, who resides in Lagos State, had arrived in Ado-Ekiti shortly before the incident occurred.
Narrating her ordeal, she said trouble started when her husband accused her of promiscuity, an allegation she vehemently denied, describing it as unfounded.
She further alleged that her husband had been threatening her life for the past 17 years, expressing fear over the prolonged threats which culminated in the latest attack.
The victim therefore called on relevant authorities to ensure justice is served and appropriate action taken over the alleged assault and persistent threats.
When contacted, her husband, Francis Adewunmi, gave a different account, claiming that he mistakenly hit his wife with a mobile phone during an argument.
