NCAA Summons Air Peace Over Persistent Flight Delays, Cancellations

In a statement released on Friday by the NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, the regulatory agency expressed serious concern over the airline’s operational lapses and called for urgent corrective measures.

This followed a meeting held at the NCAA headquarters in Abuja, where the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Captain Chris Najomo, engaged with senior officials of Air Peace.

Captain Najomo advised the airline to scale down its operations to match the number of functional aircraft in its fleet to minimise disruptions and rebuild public confidence.

“The NCAA has received several complaints of chronic flight cancellations and delays, and this must be addressed without delay,” Najomo said. “While we will continue to support the airlines, operators must strictly adhere to aviation regulations and global best practices.”

He also disclosed that the Authority is ramping up surveillance across all domestic airlines to ensure full compliance with scheduled operations and service standards.

In response, Air Peace management admitted to facing operational challenges, describing them as issues not uncommon in the aviation sector. The airline, however, assured the NCAA that efforts are ongoing to resolve the situation and improve service delivery.

Captain Najomo reaffirmed the NCAA’s zero-tolerance policy for inefficiency and warned that any airline found wanting will be sanctioned in line with the law.
