Social media critic and influencer, VeryDarkMan, has confirmed that he was the one who alerted the police, leading to the arrest of activist Harrison Gwamnishu in Benin, Edo State.
In a Facebook video released on Friday, he explained that Gwamnishu was arrested on Thursday night after he contacted security operatives over an alleged incident said to have occurred in Auchi.

According to him, reports reaching him about the matter were disturbing, prompting him to make further inquiries before involving the police. He said he initially advised those involved not to upload any videos, but a clip later circulated online, forcing him to react.
The online critic expressed disappointment, saying one of the individuals linked to the incident claimed he only released the video to clear his name after being accused of aiding the activist.
He also faulted Gwamnishu’s reaction video, accusing him of gaslighting the public and attempting to manipulate emotions despite knowing the true facts.
Another angle of the issue, he noted, was that although the police had instructed everyone present not to record, someone still filmed a moment showing Gwamnishu returning money connected to the matter. He confirmed that the activist’s truck is presently in police custody in Edo State.
Dismissing suggestions that envy motivated his action, VeryDarkMan said his only interest was ensuring that the truth was not concealed.
He warned that if Gwamnishu fails to publicly explain what truly happened, he may be left with no choice but to reveal more details.
In his words: “In all honesty, I initiated the call that led to his arrest. I did. I’m really disappointed in everything, but I would wait for him to come out and this time, I want him to say the truth about what happened in Auchi.”
He concluded by describing Gwamnishu’s earlier explanation as gaslighting and an attempt at emotional manipulation.
