Electricity distribution operations in Ekiti, Delta and Ondo states are expected to recover following the suspension of the industrial action embarked upon by the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), according to BEDC Electricity Plc.
The company disclosed this in a statement issued by its management in Benin City on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, saying the development marked progress towards resolving the dispute that had disrupted electricity distribution across its franchise areas.

BEDC, however, said the industrial action remained ongoing in Edo State, where discussions with relevant stakeholders were continuing in an effort to reach an agreement and restore normal operations.
The company described the suspension in the three states as an encouraging development, noting that dialogue and constructive engagement could help resolve the outstanding issues between management and the workers’ union.
Acknowledging the difficulties experienced during the disruption, BEDC apologised for the inconvenience caused to customers whose homes, businesses and daily activities depend on electricity supply.
The company noted that the interruption had affected households, healthcare facilities, educational institutions and businesses, all of which rely on electricity for essential operations.
In Ekiti, Delta and Ondo states, BEDC said it was prioritising efforts to restore normal operations and electricity supply to affected communities. It explained that the process would depend on network conditions and operational requirements.
The company added that it was continuing to engage relevant stakeholders in Edo State, where the dispute had yet to be resolved. Management said it remained committed to finding an amicable solution that would allow operations to return to normal as soon as possible.
BEDC also reaffirmed its commitment to employee welfare and constructive industrial relations, alongside its responsibility to provide electricity distribution services to customers across its franchise areas.
Expressing appreciation for the support received during the disruption, the company thanked customers, community leaders, government authorities and other stakeholders for their patience and understanding.
Management said it remained hopeful that the progress recorded in Ekiti, Delta and Ondo would contribute to a comprehensive resolution of the industrial dispute and the full resumption of normal operations across all four states.
The company promised to provide further information through its official communication channels as the situation develops.
