Popular influencer, Papaya Ex, has addressed the controversy surrounding her outfit at the recent wedding of Priscilla Ojo and Tanzanian singer Juma Jux.
Papaya sparked reactions after wearing a custom-made dress with a photo of the groom, Juma Jux, boldly placed on her chest during the ceremony held on April 19, 2025.
Speaking in an interview with media personality Egungun, she explained that her choice of dress was not meant to disrespect the couple, noting that she had informed the bride, Priscilla, ahead of time.
“A lot of Nigerians are very somehow — they criticise everything. If I had put the picture anywhere else, they’d still complain,” she said. “I had to tell my wife, ‘You know I love you, I wouldn’t do anything to hurt you.’ She was like, ‘Okay, yeah, it’s okay.’”
Papaya also revealed that the outfit cost N4.5 million.
In the same interview, she disclosed that she now lives in Dubai, paying a monthly rent of about N12 million for her apartment.
The influencer’s dress continues to generate mixed reactions online, with many questioning the appropriateness of her fashion choice at a friend’s wedding.
