The United States government has issued a strong warning to Nigerians and other foreign nationals, stating that anyone found guilty of visa fraud will face a lifetime ban and possible criminal prosecution.
The warning was issued via the official X handle of the U.S. Mission in Nigeria as part of renewed efforts to tighten immigration controls.

“Those who commit visa fraud will be banned from the United States for life,” the Mission said.
It added that anyone who aids or harbours undocumented immigrants in the U.S. will face similar legal consequences.
“We will pursue criminal charges against those who engage in visa fraud and those who bring in and harbour illegal aliens. A nation without borders is not a nation,” the U.S. Mission added.
This renewed stance comes shortly after the U.S. Embassy commended the Nigerian government for addressing recent concerns around U.S. visa duration for Nigerians, which had been reduced to three months and single-entry.
