Tinubu Launches Tax Calculator to Show Impact on Incomes

Tinubu, in a post on his official X handle on Friday, explained that the tool will enable taxpayers to compare their current tax rates with those under the new system, which comes into effect in January 2026.

He said the reforms were aimed at creating a fairer tax system that would not impose hardship on low-income earners or vulnerable groups.

“A fair tax system must never punish poverty or weigh down the most vulnerable. With the new tax laws I recently signed, we have lifted this burden and created a path of equity, fairness and redistribution in our economy,” he said.

The President noted that the calculator was developed to show how the reforms would protect low-income earners, promote fairness, and make compliance easier.

He urged citizens to embrace the reforms and believe in the country’s economic future.

“Together, we are renewing hope in the Nigeria of our dreams. Take a bet on our country. Bet on Nigeria to work for you, your family and your community,” he added.
