Pezeshkian, Judiciary Chief to Lead Iran’s Transition After Khamenei’s Death

State television on Sunday disclosed that the interim leadership arrangement includes Judiciary Chief, Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, and another representative from Iran’s legal council.

The report quoted Mohammad Mokhber, described as one of Khamenei’s advisers, as confirming the development.

According to the broadcast, the three officials are expected to manage state matters pending further constitutional procedures regarding the country’s leadership structure.

In a related development, large crowds of mourners assembled on Sunday at Enghelab (Revolution) Square in Tehran to pay tribute to the late supreme leader.

Eyewitness accounts from international news agency AFP indicated that thousands of people, mostly dressed in black, gathered in the city centre, with some seen weeping and chanting slogans directed at the United States and Israel.

Many of the mourners were observed waving Iranian flags and carrying portraits of Khamenei as security presence was heightened around the area.
