Authorities in the United Arab Emirates have suspended flight operations at Dubai’s two main airports following heightened military tensions in the Gulf region.
Operations at Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport were halted indefinitely after missile exchanges involving Iran, the United States and Israel triggered fresh security concerns across the Middle East.

In an official statement, Dubai Airports said the temporary shutdown was necessary to protect passengers, airline operators and airport staff as the security situation continues to unfold.
“Dubai Airports confirms that all flight operations at Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International (DWC) are suspended until further notice. Passengers are advised not to travel to the airport at this time and to contact their respective airlines directly for the latest updates regarding their flights,” the authority stated.
The airport operator added that it would continue to monitor developments closely and provide further updates when appropriate.
The decision followed a sharp escalation in hostilities after reported joint strikes by the United States and Israel on Iranian targets earlier in the day. In response, Iran allegedly launched ballistic missiles toward American military facilities and allied locations in several Gulf countries.
Security officials in the UAE disclosed that air defence systems intercepted a number of incoming missiles.
However, falling debris reportedly led to casualties, with the country’s Ministry of Defence confirming that at least one civilian lost his life in Abu Dhabi.
Elsewhere in the region, Qatari authorities announced that their defence systems successfully neutralised multiple projectiles, including a missile destroyed mid-air, which produced a large cloud of smoke visible from different parts of the city.
Meanwhile, officials in Kuwait reported that an Iranian strike damaged a runway at Ali Al Salem Air Base, where Italian air force personnel are deployed for surveillance duties.
Reacting to the development, the UAE Ministry of Defence condemned the attack, describing it as a dangerous escalation, while affirming that the country reserves the right to respond in a manner it considers appropriate.
