The traditional ruler of Agamọ community in Ondo State, Oba Kehinde Falodun, has died following an attack by suspected armed men in Akure North Local Government Area, authorities confirmed.
Community sources said the attackers invaded the palace on Wednesday evening and attempted to abduct the monarch, who resisted before being fatally assaulted during the confrontation.

Residents reported that the assailants fled shortly after the incident, leaving the community in shock and prompting an immediate security response.
Confirming the development, police spokesperson Abayomi Jimoh said officers have begun a full investigation and intensified efforts to apprehend those responsible.
He explained that tactical teams, working with local security groups, swiftly moved into the area to search adjoining bushes and strengthen surveillance.
Supporting operations involved collaboration with the regional security outfit Ondo State Security Network Agency alongside local hunters and vigilance groups to prevent further threats.
Police authorities assured residents that patrols and intelligence gathering have been reinforced to maintain calm and protect surrounding communities.
The incident follows earlier security challenges reported in Akure North, heightening public concern about safety in rural settlements.
Community leaders have since appealed for sustained security presence and cooperation with law enforcement as investigations continue.
