No Winners, No Losers After Election –  Babatuyi Charges New BSES NUJ Executives

The new executive is led by Comrade Bukola Adebukola as Chairman, with Yemi Olajutemu as Vice Chairman, Abimbola Adegboyega as Secretary and Christy Ishola Yusuf as Treasurer.

Speaking during the inauguration, Babatuyi said unionism was founded on equality and collective responsibility, irrespective of members’ ranks or positions in their respective workplaces.

He urged members to rally behind the new leadership, stressing that there should be no winners or losers after an election, and appealed to the executives to protect the integrity of the union at all times.

“Support the new leadership. There should be no winners or losers after an election. Unionism is about equality and collective responsibility,” Babatuyi said.

The NUJ Chairman also tasked the executives to ensure regular payment of dues by members and to prevent non-members from enjoying privileges reserved for registered members, noting that financial discipline was key to the survival and strength of the union.

In his acceptance speech, Adebukola pledged that his administration would prioritise transparency, collective decision-making and members’ welfare.

He promised to revive the chapel’s quarterly forum, which he described as a platform for engagement, and to pursue the completion of an outstanding project inherited by the new executive.

The new chairman also appealed to the NUJ State Council to extend professional training opportunities to chapel members irrespective of their positions, to enhance their capacity and promote excellence in journalism.

Adebukola appreciated the leadership of Ekiti NUJ, BSES management and members of the chapel, and called on them to work together for the progress of the chapel.
