Tragedy has struck members of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State following the unexpected death of the party’s Assistant Publicity Secretary, Karamo Yesiro, barely 24 hours after he secured another term in office.
The late party official had just been returned to the position during the state congress of the APC held on Tuesday at the Onikan Stadium where delegates elected members of the new state executive.

Before his sudden death, Yesiro was expected to join other newly elected officials for the formal inauguration of the Lagos State executive scheduled to take place at the party secretariat on Thursday.
Reacting to the development, the Lagos APC expressed sadness over the loss in a statement issued on Wednesday by the party’s spokesman, Seye Oladejo.
Oladejo described the passing of the party stalwart as shocking and painful, saying the news came at a time when his contributions were greatly needed in the leadership of the state chapter.
He noted that the deceased had only just been given another mandate by party members to serve on the State Executive Council, reflecting the confidence placed in his commitment to the APC.
The spokesman explained that although his time in the new executive was cut short, the late Yesiro had already built a reputation as a loyal member who believed strongly in the progressive ideals of the party.
According to him, colleagues and party supporters will remember the deceased for his dedication, humility and readiness to work for the stability and development of the APC in Lagos State.
Oladejo added that the leadership and members of the party have extended their condolences to the family, friends and political associates of the late official during the period of grief.
He stated that the Lagos APC remains united in mourning the loss while praying that God grants the family the strength to cope with the tragedy and gives the deceased eternal rest.
