Hon. Adeteju Okuyiga, a serving member of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, has formally declared her intention to contest the Ekiti South Federal Constituency II seat in the House of Representatives on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2027 general elections.
Okuyiga made the declaration in Aisegba-Ekiti while addressing party leaders, stakeholders, and women groups. She anchored her ambition on legislative competence, grassroots engagement, and the need for increased female representation in the National Assembly.

She described herself as a continuity candidate with field experience, stating that effective representation bridges campaign promises and measurable socio-economic outcomes. “I stand before you with clarity of purpose to seek your support and endorsement,” she said.
Legislative Background and Constituency Record
Okuyiga said her political approach is defined by direct engagement and result-oriented legislation. “Over the years, I have remained visible and accessible within my constituency. I have initiated and supported projects that promote both my personal mandate and the ideals of our great party, the APC. My political leaders, ward executives, and stakeholders can attest to my consistency, accessibility, and grassroots impact,” she stated.
She noted that her tenure in the state legislature has provided institutional grounding and constituency exposure necessary for federal representation. She pledged to align with the policy direction of Governor Biodun Oyebanji and to leverage federal platforms to attract additional resources to the constituency.
Education and Economic Interventions
Okuyiga listed several constituency interventions, particularly in education. These include:
– Bursary awards for tertiary students from Gbonyin/Aiyekire Constituency
– Supply of mechanical lawn mowers to secondary schools in Gbonyin/Aiyekire
– Continuous education grants for indigent students
On economic empowerment, she cited direct financial support to over 1,000 households and individuals, grants to petty traders, and the construction of 100 lock-up shops across wards to stimulate local enterprise.
Infrastructure and Social Welfare
Her infrastructure projects include rehabilitation of sections of the Ekiti Airport Junction–Imesi axis and federal routes linking Iluomoba and Ijan-Ekiti, aimed at restoring mobility and economic connectivity.
In social welfare, she referenced constituency-wide COVID-19 relief efforts and the implementation of the Omi Teju water scheme, which delivered potable water through borehole projects in underserved areas.
She also highlighted her role in facilitating employment across state and federal establishments and attracting capital projects, including rice mills in Ode and Aisegba, and upgrades of general hospitals within the constituency.
Gender Representation and Party Loyalty
Okuyiga framed her candidacy as addressing the underrepresentation of women in the national legislature. “The female gender remains underrepresented in our national legislature. I am convinced that, with the support of our great party, I can fill that gap and give a voice to women and men of Ekiti South Federal Constituency II,” she said.
“As a woman, a wife, and a mother, I understand the unique challenges facing families, and I am committed to being a strong, credible voice at the federal level.”
She pledged loyalty to the APC and committed to protecting the party’s interests if nominated. “I am dependable and will not disappoint the people I represent at the federal level if given the opportunity to fly the party’s flag. I will work tirelessly to ensure victory for our party and align with the party’s vision for a greater Ekiti.”
“My goal is to ensure our people feel the impact of government more directly through quality representation and the facilitation of federal projects. I will maintain constant engagement with constituents to ensure that the dividends of democracy reach every ward, unit, and household.”
Okuyiga appealed for unity ahead of party primaries, stating that her emergence would strengthen inclusivity and enhance the party’s electoral appeal.
Stakeholder Endorsement
Speaking on behalf of women groups, Mrs. Foluso Awojolu said the constituency needs Okuyiga at the National Assembly. “Hon. Adeteju Okuyiga has done very well for us. As a lawmaker in the Ekiti State House of Assembly, she has provided support to people in her constituency in many ways. She has empowered the young, old, and widowed, and touched countless lives. She has also facilitated many developmental projects to communities in the constituency.”
Awojolu appealed to Governor Biodun Oyebanji to support Okuyiga’s candidacy to advance gender inclusion and grassroots development. “She deserves to go higher so she can impact the grassroots more. We want her at the national level to be our mouthpiece and our voice.”
