Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia of Benue State has transmitted the first list of commissioner-nominees to the State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.
This was disclosed in a statement on Friday by the Governor’s spokesperson, Mr. Tersoo Kula.
Kula described the move as a crucial step toward strengthening the machinery of governance and enhancing effective service delivery in the state.
He noted that a second batch of nominees is expected to be sent to the House in the coming days.
The eight nominees in the first batch are:
- Hon. Theresa Odachi Ikwue
- Hon. Dr. Benjamin Ashaver
- Hon. Dr. Adamu Margaret Ijaguwa
- Hon. Dr. Peter Oboh Egbodo
- Dr. Yangien Timothy Ornguga
- Hon. Denis Iyaighgba
- Hon. James Dwem
- Dr. Paul Ejeh Ogwuche
The development follows the recent dissolution of the State Executive Council on Wednesday, in which all commissioners were relieved of their duties. The governor, however, retained the office of the Chief of Staff, now occupied by former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Moses Atagher.
The new nominees, once confirmed, are expected to bring renewed vigour to governance and contribute to the administration’s developmental agenda.
