Four people were killed and 10 others injured during a shooting at a family gathering in California on Saturday night. Police described the attack as a suspected targeted incident.
The shooting happened inside a banquet hall in Stockton, northeast of San Francisco, shortly before 6 pm. Spokesperson for the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office, Heather Brent, confirmed the incident during a news briefing.

Brent said the victims range from juveniles to adults and were rushed to nearby hospitals. She noted that details remain limited as investigations continue.
She said, “What we have confirmed at this time is that there was a banquet hall where a family was celebrating. We have 14 victims. Four of those have died.”
Brent added that early findings suggest the attack may have been targeted, but investigators are still examining all possibilities.
The sheriff’s office said in a social media update that detectives are working to uncover the events that led to the tragedy. It also urged anyone with information or video evidence to contact the authorities.
No suspect has been identified.
California Governor Gavin Newsom has been briefed on the incident, his office confirmed.
There have been 504 mass shootings in the United States so far this year, including the Stockton attack, according to the Gun Violence Archive, which defines a mass shooting as an incident where four or more people are shot.
