The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) has announced that 53 candidates have qualified for the next stage of the ongoing selection process for the appointment of Federal Permanent Secretaries.
Out of 73 accredited candidates for the first-tier written examination, three were absent, leaving 70 participants. Of these, 53 passed successfully, which the OHCSF described as evidence of “the depth of talent within the Service” and of the Federal Government’s commitment to merit-based appointments.

The next phase is an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) proficiency test scheduled for Wednesday, September 17, 2025. The test is designed to measure candidates’ digital competence, which government officials say is essential for modern public service leadership.
Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack, OON, mni, reaffirmed the competitiveness of the exercise, insisting that it reflects the government’s reform agenda for a professional, accountable and future-ready public service.
“The advancement of 53 candidates to the next stage of this rigorous process reflects our deliberate efforts to uphold excellence in public service leadership. We are committed to ensuring that only individuals of proven competence, integrity and vision emerge to lead the Federal Civil Service at the highest levels,” she said.
The OHCSF assured Nigerians that the entire selection exercise is being conducted with transparency, fairness and integrity in line with the Federal Government’s governance and reform goals.
