In a statement made available to journalists in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, the PTA Chairman, Elder Adesoji Pius Adeusi, who on behalf of other exco in the State, joined his counterparts across the States of the Federation to felicitate the President of the National Parent Teacher Association (NAPTAN), Professor Boniface Odeh, on his appointment as the Provost, College of Education, Oju, Benue State, which the National Public Relations Officers of the Association, Hon. Fadare Akinlolu, described as an opportunity for NAPTAN members whose wards are seeking admission to study either NCE or Degree programmes. He solicited members’ prayers for him to succeed in the new assignment.

Following the paper earlier presented by the President, where he drew the attention of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to the candidates’ mass failure in UTME which according to him was caused by the introduction of Computer Based Test (CBT), saying majority of the candidates did not have access to computers, Ekiti PTA leadership therefore further appreciated the NAPTAN President for advising that Paper Based Test should be allowed alongside the CBT.

Also, on the proposed CBT for 2026 WAEC candidates, which the National Body of the Association observed good to some extent, was also oconsidered disadvantageous for the students especially most of them in the rural areas who don’t have access to computers.

The President noted that even in Schools where there are computer facilities in urban areas, that students are not allowed to train with them by the School authorities for fear of getting them damaged. Premising on this, he subscribed to putting it on hold until the facilities are able to go round the Schools across the Nation. The Ekiti PTA Chairman maintained that it’s also a good development as it was agreed as Parent body, that the Association should make known their positions to the Council and Nigerian Government through the Federal Ministry of Education.

On appointment of both the Patron and Matron of the Association, the President said arrangement is on to see President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the First lady to appreciate his administration for series of education policies introduced such as: the Student loan, free education for Technical Students among others, noting that the President deserves an award based on all these.

The NAPTAN President, equally suggested that Governors in the Six Geo Political Zones, who are Education friendly be captured in the award presentation as he ordered that the list of the State Governors that deserve such an award be compiled and send to the Secretary General on or before the end of July 2025, for work to begin on it in earnest.

The Ekiti PTA Chairman, Elder Adeusi while commending the leadership style of both the National President, Professor Boniface Odeh, and Chairman Board of Trustee, Chief Adeolu Ogunbanjo, described them as leaders with great difference.

National Leaders in attendance at the meeting among other leaders from other states are: Comrade Akinola Olufemi Jacob, National Secretary General, Comrade Adelanwa Yetunde Funmilayo – National Auditor, and Honourable Fadare Akinlolu Moshood -National P.R.O.
