Ekiti Police Command Arrests More Suspects Over Ikere-West LCDA Chairman Abduction   … Denies PDP Allegation of Political Intimidation, Says Arrests Not Party-Based

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abutu Sunday, said the suspects, Daramola Sehinde and Oluyede Dapo, were arrested by the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit, VCRU. Three other suspects had earlier been arrested on June 4, 2026, over alleged conspiracy, abduction and assault occasioning harm.

The arrests follow allegations by PDP Deputy Governorship Candidate for the June 20, 2026 election, Hon. Deji Ogunsakin, that the Command’s Rapid Response Squad, RRS, was intimidating, harassing and illegally arresting party members ahead of the poll.

SP Sunday said no illegal arrest was made and no arrest was targeted at any political party member for political reasons. He said all suspects would be “objectively and thoroughly investigated and charged to court,” while efforts continue to apprehend other suspects mentioned in connection with the crime.

State Commissioner of Police, CP Falade Adegoroye Michael, reiterated the Command’s commitment to justice, professionalism and the rule of law. “The Command will never be intimidated or deterred through propaganda, emotional outbursts or political gimmicks from performing its statutory responsibilities,” he said.

CP Adegoroye urged citizens to remain law-abiding, avoid fake narratives and be security conscious. He assured that the Command under his watch would not engage in unlawful arrests, detentions or intimidation of citizens, irrespective of political, religious or cultural affiliation.
