The Ekiti State Government has approved the sum of N10 billion for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Ita-Ido–Ido-Ile–Okemesi–Ikoro road, covering a total stretch of 17.4 kilometres.
The project involves the rehabilitation of 11.4km and the complete reconstruction of 6km of the critical inter-township road linking several communities in the state.

The State Commissioner for Information, Mr Taiwo Olatunbosun, made this known in a statement on Thursday in Ado-Ekiti, shortly after the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
Olatunbosun said the approval was in line with the administration’s commitment to infrastructural renewal across the state, especially in improving access roads and enhancing economic development.
He noted that the road project is expected to ease movement, reduce hardship for residents, boost socio-economic activities, and strengthen security along the corridor.
According to him, the contract has been awarded to Messrs Banky Pacesetter Nigeria Limited, with 60 per cent of the contract sum to be paid as mobilisation, and a completion period of 20 months.
In a related development, the Council also approved N200 million for the construction of Modular Solar-Powered Irrigation Systems across selected farm hubs in the state.
The Commissioner explained that the project is part of the state’s effort to transform the agricultural sector and support youth empowerment through the “Bring Back Our Youths to Agriculture (BBYA)” programme.
He said the irrigation systems would be installed in farm hubs located at the Ose Centre in Emure Local Government Area, as well as in Ado-Ekiti, Ikere, and Aramoko.
“This initiative is aimed at boosting productivity by utilising perennial water sources and modern irrigation technology to counter the effects of unpredictable weather on crop production,” he said.
Olatunbosun added that the project reflects the government’s resolve to empower young farmers, ensure food security, and promote agribusiness development in Ekiti.
