The former Commissioner for Work in Ekiti, Hon. Funmilayo Ogun, has said that her victory cannot be threatened by the ADC coalition or APC in the forthcoming governorship election in the State.

Ogun, who is one of the governorship aspirants under the umbrella of PDP in the State stated this on Tuesday during the ‘welcome back home’ reception organised by her supporters across the sixteen local governments in the state, held in her situation office in Ado Ekiti, the State capital.
Hon ( Mrs) Ogun Funmilayo Theresa (OFT) who boasted of winning the 2026 governorship election maintained that PDP remains the people’s party. Adding that the party will not join African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition before dislodging the incubent governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji.

In her word, “PDP in the state had commenced reconciliation and consultation to put behind them all challenges facing the party. No new party can win the governorship election except PDP”. She said.
The aspirant therefore appealed to all the party members in the State to remain resolute, steadfast and work assiduously for the victory of the party in 2026 election, saying that PDP government is always concerned about the masses unlike the present administration of APC that’s built on deceit and propaganda. OFT stated.

While promising to embark on local government tour very soon to have an interface with PDP members at the grassroots, she urged the PDP members not to be discouraged by the antecedents of their leaders who used them in the past for their selfish interests as she assured them that she would always carry them along and give them whatever is due to them.
According to her, “the era of Oga said has gone, “we are now our own Oga, we are together, we understand ourselves and I will not short-change you for any reason. Enough of slavery, freedom has returned to PDP and all of us will enjoy the freedom, because those that are causing commotion have pitched their tents with ADC and APC because of immediate benefits”

Hon Ogun appreciated the organisers of the reception for the deep thought , dedication and love that they displayed despite the fact that hasn’t seen them for a very long time. “I thank them, they are grassrooters whom I ‘m going to work with”
In his reaction, the PDP Chairman in Ado Local Government, Hon. Femi Adeyemi, described Hon. Ogun as a unifying figure in PDP. He explained that Ogun took it upon herself to go round all the local governments in the State immediately after 2022 election when PDP lost to APC, and ensured that the party didn’t die. “She remains our rallying point who always give us hope. She spent her resources to keep PDP flag flying”

Other leaders from the Senatorial Districts in the State equally commended Hon. Ogun for keeping PDP alive in Ekiti, they all assured her of their support to make her vision of becoming the governor of Ekiti state in 2026 come true.
