The Media Directorate of Ayodele Ayokunle Olusegun, has drawn the attention of the good people of Ekiti State, the NDC family, and the national leadership of the party to serious concerns arising from the handling of the senatorial nomination process in Ekiti State.
Statement by the team reveals that it is on record that Dr. Ayodele Ayokunle Olusegun, Senatorial Candidate for Ekiti South, and Prince Adeyinka Ali, Senatorial Candidate for Ekiti North, made payments totaling N17.56 million, broken down as N8.39 million and N9.15 million respectively in respect of nomination-related processes facilitated through Apostle David Ayodele Adesua, who was presented as the coordinator for the nomination exercise in Ekiti.

Dr. Olusegun, who had earlier expressed reservations about the procedure, states that he completed his screening, affirmation and upload process for Ekiti South, with confirmations communicated verbally and supported by documents forwarded at the time. That position was also acknowledged by relevant party stakeholders.
“We are therefore concerned that a few days to the release of the final list, the names of the two candidates were not reflected, with conflicting explanations now emerging. This development raises legitimate questions about transparency and accountability in the process”.
Our position is as follows:
Dr. Olusegun did not withdraw his candidature and did not authorize any withdrawal on his behalf.
We request a full accounting and reconciliation of all nomination-related payments made in respect of Ekiti South and Ekiti North.
We request the NDC National Headquarters to clarify the role assigned to Apostle Adesua as coordinator, and to provide records of screening, affirmation and submission to INEC.
We have initiated engagement with the appropriate party and legal channels to seek clarification, due process and necessary remedies.
Dr. Olusegun remains committed to due process, internal party resolution mechanisms, and the rule of law. We urge all supporters to remain calm, focused and law-abiding, and to disregard any attempt to create division within the NDC in Ekiti South.
The movement to rescue, rebuild and reposition Ekiti and Nigeria remains focused, undeterred and committed to peaceful democratic engagement.
