Unilorin Appoints JAMB Registrar, Oloyede, two Others as Emeritus Professors

The appointees are Prof. Is’haq Oloyede, Prof. Olu Obafemi, and Prof. Musbau Akanji. This decision was announced in a statement issued on Thursday by the University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun.

According to Akogun, the appointments were approved during the 304th meeting of the University Senate, the institution’s highest decision-making body.

Prof. Oloyede, a former Vice Chancellor of Unilorin, retired from the university’s service in October 2024. He currently serves as the Registrar and Chief Executive of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

Prof. Obafemi, a renowned scholar in English and Dramatic Literature, retired from the institution in 2020.

Prof. Akanji, a prominent Biochemistry scholar, is a former Vice Chancellor of both Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, and the Federal University of Technology, Minna. He retired in 2021.

The conferment of the title “Emeritus Professor” is one of the highest academic honors, reserved for retired professors who have made outstanding contributions to their fields and the academic community.
