Trial Of Civil Actions Suspended In Ekiti As High Court Begins Vacation

The trial of civil actions in the high courts across Ekiti State shall be suspended from Monday 7th August, 2023, to mark the beginning of year 2023 Annual Vacation.

According to Ekiti State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice John Adeyeye, the vacation is under Order 45 Rule (4)(d) of Ekiti State High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2020.

The release made available to the press by Ekiti State Judiciary Chief Registrar, Olanike Adegoke Esq., stated that criminal matters and urgent civil motions will be heard and attended to during the vacation, while civil actions may be heard by leave of vacation judge based on agreement of concerned parties. 

Adegoke said, the official visit of Ekiti State Chief Judge, Justice John Adeyeye to the Ado Ekiti Medium Security Custodial Centre, earlier scheduled to hold between Thursday and Friday 27th and 28th July,2023 has been postponed till a later date, adding that any inconveniences caused by the postponment is highly regretted. In the mean time, another date for the official visit of the Chief Judge will be announced in due course.

Resumption for normal court activities commences on Monday 18th September, 2023.

During the vacation, all courts in the state shall remain open and operate throughout the period, he said.
