Tinubu Appoints Principal Officers for Varsity, College of Education

In a statement on Monday, presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga announced that Prof. Fatiu Arogundade has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Abeokuta. Other appointees include Dr. Obayomi Olukayode Gregory as Registrar, Adedokun Omolola Olufunso as Bursar, and Dr. Idiat Odunola Agboola as Librarian.

Arogundade, a Professor of Medicine at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, previously served as the Registrar of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria. With over 33 years of experience in teaching, research, and administration, he has led major medical research initiatives and secured substantial research grants.

Tinubu urged the newly appointed officials to provide visionary leadership and lay a strong foundation for the university’s growth. He expressed confidence in their ability to develop the institution, which was established in 2023, into a center for world-class medical training.

Appointments at Federal College of Education (Technical), Yauri

Similarly, Prof. Sa’adu Umar has been named Provost of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Yauri, Kebbi. Other appointees include Abdullahi Ahmed as Registrar, Dr. Muhammad Yusuf Alkali as Bursar, and Maimuna Ahmed as Librarian.

Umar, a Professor of Agricultural Extension, previously served as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) at the Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero. Ahmed, the new Registrar, was formerly the Deputy Registrar of the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa. Alkali, a former Dean of the School of Accountancy and Finance at Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, and Ahmed, a College Librarian at the Niger State College of Nursing Sciences, Minna, complete the leadership team.

The tenures of the principal officers at the Federal College of Education (Technical), Yauri, are set at five years each, with no extensions, as stipulated in the Federal Colleges of Education Act, 2023.

Established by an Act of the National Assembly, the college offers full-time programs in technology, applied sciences, arts, social sciences, humanities, and management.
