Police Officer Allegedly Kills Woman In Accidental Discharge in Ekiti

The incident occurred opposite the Okela Police Post, where the woman had reportedly gone to visit her detained husband.

Eyewitnesses said the officer’s firearm discharged unexpectedly, striking the woman as she stood outside a salon across from the station.

Despite efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

The Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, AIG Akinwale Adeniran, confirmed the incident.

He said that the officer responsible has been disarmed and taken into custody for interrogation.

Authorities have launched a full investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

The incident has sparked grief and outrage within the community, with residents calling for justice and reforms to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
