Pandemonium as Supporters of Dele Farotimi, Afe Babalola Clash at Court

The case stems from allegations of defamation brought against Farotimi by Babalola over statements in Farotimi’s book, Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System.

Tensions flared on the court premises after the adjournment, as supporters from both sides engaged in a heated shouting match, with the situation nearly turning physical.

A group of human rights activists expressed frustration over the postponement of the bail ruling, accusing the system of being unjust.

In contrast, Babalola’s supporters condemned the activists for disrespecting the elder statesman and allegedly planning protests that could disrupt the peace in Ekiti State.

Despite the tensions, no protests occurred on Tuesday as earlier speculated by the activists.

The courtroom was packed with lawyers, journalists, and observers, while others gathered outside, monitoring proceedings through windows. Security personnel maintained order to prevent any escalation.
