Former Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, has accused Governor Godwin Obaseki of failing to fulfill a financial commitment made during their time in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In an explosive revelation, Shaibu claimed that he contributed $300,000 to support Obaseki’s political efforts, with the governor allegedly promising to add $700,000 to lobby PDP leaders in Port Harcourt. However, he later discovered that the money was never delivered as intended.
“I gave him $300,000, and he assured me he would add $700,000 to lobby them in Port Harcourt,” Shaibu stated. “But we later confirmed from the PDP Zonal Chairman that no such money was given. So, in reality, he duped me.”
Shaibu, who was impeached in 2023, made these claims in a recent interview, further escalating tensions between him and his former political ally.
