A member of All Stars Football Club International, Ekiti State chapter, Mr Olakunle Fasuan, has donated five sets of brand-new leather balls to the Technical Crew of the Ekiti Queens Football Club.
He handed over the sports material to the leaders of the team during their training session at Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado Ekiti, the State capital.
The donation was part of his philanthropic gesture to the sport development in the state noting that everything should not be left for government saying “we should be all concerned about the development of our dear state”.
The Afao-Ekiti born sport lover appealed to all well to do indigenes of the state, home and abroad to key into sports development by complementing government’s efforts in the sports sector.
Expressing delight in the performances of Ekiti Queens Football Club in some of the outings against their counterparts this season, Mr Fasuan commended the officials of the team for the good tactics injected into the Club so far.
He also lauded the Ekiti State House of Assembly for speedy passage of bill for the establishment of Ekiti Sports Commission to ensure that sporting activities get adequate attention it deserve and also serve as springboard for empowerment and not as leisure only.
While appreciating Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s giant strides at taken sporting activities to the next level, the donor restated his readiness to always continue to give maximum support to both Ekiti United FC and Ekiti Queen FC so as to see them making impacts in the future.
Advising the leadership of Ekiti Queens FC to brace up in their performances ahead as the season progresses, Fasuan observed that since the team just spent three months in the competition, that they will soon get themselves used to it. He remarked that the performance of Ekiti Queens FC has not that bad, but needed to get improved in the remaining outings.
He urged players, coaches, administrators and other officials of the Club to always work together as a team in order to realize the state government’s ambition of making it a number one female football club in the country.
His word, “The team is doing well but they still need to put more effort in their matches so as to go far on the table. They should go out to pick points. I know that their subsequent matches will be better and superb than what we have witnessed in the past”, he concluded.
In a separate interview with journalists shortly after the presentation, the Technical Adviser of Ekiti Queens FC, Okuwa Gift Igunbor said, “what Mr Olakunle Fasuan has done was very amazing because he indeed surprised our team. His contributions is a good example for all and sundries to emulate by giving back to the society who raised them.”
She urged other good people of Ekiti to emulate the gesture by remembering the team in whatever capacity, adding that the donation will go a long way in developing the football sector in the state.
