RATTAWU ELECTION: FRCN Staff, Jasper Falae Emerges Consensus Presidential Candidate

This was contained in a statement made available to journalists by the Candidate which reads:

“With deep gratitude and a profound sense of responsibility, I, Com. Jasper Taiwo Falae, humbly accept my nomination as the Federal Block Consensus Presidential Candidate of the “Radio, Television, Theatre, and Arts Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU).

“This nomination is not just a personal milestone, but a testament to the unwavering commitment of the Federal Block to the principles of justice, fairness, and equity”, which have been the foundation of our unity and alignment.

The Federal Block of RATTAWU is made up of workers from almost twenty (20) Federal Government Agencies across three (3) out of the four (4) active Trade groups of the Union, making up of almost two-third of election delegates in a free and fair election.

The agencies include; The NTA, FRCN, VON, NOA, NAN, NBC, NICO, NCAC, NFVCB, NPC, NIHT, ARCON, NGA, NCMM, NT, NTN, NFC, CBAAC, NTDC and others who have become resolute that it will be fair and just that the Federal Block be allowed to produce the next President of the union after almost 20 years of being led by fellow comrades from State Owned Establishments. This is in line with the futuristic proactive tradition graciously supported by the patriachs, elders and all the past leaders of the union to pave way for a rancour free and peaceful National Delegates Conference every four years.

“I fully recognize the weight of this responsibility, and I assure the Federal Think Tank, our Elders and all comrades who brokered this truce that this mandate will be pursued with dedication, transparency, and an unrelenting drive to uphold the values and collective aspirations of RATTAWU. I remain steadfast in my commitment to working tirelessly for the growth, unity, and progress of our great union, ensuring that every member’s voice is heard, respected, and duly represented.

“I extend my heartfelt appreciation to Powerful Comrade Godwin Jack CCA of NTA, whose unwavering leadership, strategic insight, and selfless sacrifice played a pivotal role in ensuring that this alignment became a reality. I also acknowledge the immense contributions of other powerful comrades across various Federal RATTAWU Agencies, whose steadfast support and solidarity have strengthened our collective resolve, which made this consensus a reality.

“Furthermore, I will like to use this opportunity to extend a hand of fellowship to our comrades in State Owned Broadcast Stations (SOBON) and the State Cultural Sector, inviting them to join this transformative movement. Together, we will rebrand and reposition RATTAWU, making it a union that we can all take immense pride in.

“Our strength lies in our unity and with your trust and support, we will build a stronger and more progressive RATTAWU, one that stands firm in the defense of workers’ rights, professional dignity, and the collective welfare of all members.

“Thank you for your confidence, solidarity and commitment to our shared cause. The journey ahead is ours to walk together, in strength and unity”. Falae concluded.

Earlier, a group of all federal workers in RATTAWU called the Federal block has said that their  commitment has been to come up with a single Presidential Candidate that would not only drive the vision of the Union but ignite their pride as Federal Workers in the Union

The group therefore appreciated all RATTAWU Federal Workers in their thousands for their unwavering support and dedication to the course of rescuing the Union from the throes of impending collapse saying their backing will continue to serve as an encouragement to push for a better focused and inclusive RATTAWU that will be the pride of all eventually.

“Dear Comrades, as we approach the forthcoming National Delegate Conference (NDC), the need to forge a more united front as Federal Workers in the Union has become quite pertinent and imperative especially when we consider the fact that our presence in the present/outgoing CWC is next to zero with clear cases of marginalization and suppression of our interests.

The statement issued revealed that series of consultations and meetings were made and eventually on Sunday 23rd March, 2025, they were able to arrive at a consensus agreement that gave birth to the emergence of Jasper Taiwo Falae of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) as the National Presidential Candidate of the Union and Comrade Godwin Jack of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) as the candidate for the position of National Trustee of the Union in the forthcoming NDC based on consideration of Equity, Fairness and Justice for the three Trade Groups represented by Federal Workers in the Union.

According to the statement, “This decision was on the basis of equity, fairness and justice that the Federal block stands for, as we all know that over the years NTA Trade Group had produced three different Presidents at various times in the life of the Union while the FRCN/VON Trade Group had not produced any elected President for more than 40years.

“These two candidates (Com Jasper and Com Jack) will align with other respectable Comrades in our sister Trade Groups as leaders to drive the vision

26th March, 2025.

“Congratulations to the Candidates and we wish to call on all to please join hands together, support these candidates and let our commitment lead to a victorious NDC for us.

“Thank you all!”
