EKSU: VC, Olanipekun Celebrates 4th Year In Office With Thanksgiving

The Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Ado – Ekiti has marked his 4th year in office with a special thanksgiving service held at the St. Aquinas Catholic Church, EKSU Campus, Ado – Ekiti.

In his message at the service, the Catholic Bishop of Ekiti Diocese, Most Revd. Femi Ajakaye, charged the Vice Chancellor to stay away from negative people and sycophants for him to succeed in the tasks before him.

According to the clergyman, “negative people have a problem for every solution”, hence, admonished the Vice Chancellor to “never allow the distractions of the world to be his attractions”.

Bishop Ajakaye further urged members of the university community to go farther with the Vice Chancellor in his efforts to re-position the university. He maintained that every member of the university community should come together to fight evil and allow the spirit of love to thrive.

Earlier during the homily, the Chaplain of the church, Revd. Father Clement Ogunlusi read the communique of the Ibadan Catholic Bishops Ecclesiastical Province titled: “Overcoming the hard times in Nigeria” . In the communique, the Catholic Bishops described the current period as debilitating, decried the current food crisis, security challenges and called on the Tinubu government to show more seriousness in tackling the various challenges in the country.

In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Edward Olanipekun thanked God for His mercies and appreciated the immediate past Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi for considering him worthy of the appointment. He also thanked Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his love and support to the university which have been assisting the university greatly.

While also thanking all members of the university community, he revealed that the Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency, Biodun Oyebanji has approved the convocation of a Stakeholders’ forum to x-ray the challenges of the university with a view to proffering solutions capable of moving it forward.

The thanksgiving service was attended by members of the university Management and their spouses, Deans of Faculties, Directors, Union leaders, members of staff, as well as friends and family members of the Vice Chancellor.
