The management of Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board has organized a special carol service to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
The Service which featured nine lessons and carols took place at the SUBEB chapel in Ado Ekiti.
Present at the service were the Executive Chairman of the Board, Prof. Femi Akinwumi, the Permanent Secretary, Mr Afolabi Adebiyi, Directors, Education Secretaries, Staff of SUBEB and invited guests.
The SUBEB Chairman called on the people to always appreciate God for all the benefits bestowed on them round the year which called for celebration.
He also charged the management and staff of SUBEB to cultivate the culture of giving in this festive season.
Prof. Akinwumi said it was imperative to give to those in need as there are blessings attached to the act of giving than receiving. “Give and it shall be given unto you, that is what the bible says in Luke 6:38, he said.”
“It is also known that when you give generously, you tend to receive more than you have given.”
“You may have given to someone with the aim of receiving something in return but you will often discover that the joy and happiness you gain from giving far outweighs the gift you give.”
The SUBEB boss also mentioned that Proverb 22:9 says “One who is generous will be blessed, because he gives some of his food to the poor”.
He commended the organizers, stressing the need to make the programme an annual event for the Board.
In his words of exhortation, the Permanent Secretary, Mr Afolabi Adebiyi also charged everyone at the service to ensure the purpose of their creation is achieved by surrendering themselves to God their creator.
Mr Adebiyi while speaking on the “Purpose of Life” stated that every being has a purpose for which God has created and put them in a particular place.
He noted that being one with God was the only way to restore one’s purpose in life as it gives peace and brings one closer to God.
While the Chairman, Permanent Secretary and other management staff gave a special rendition, there were scripture readings taken by Directors, Education Secretaries and some other members of staff of SUBEB.
The event featured special renditions by the SUBEB choir with very uniquely composed songs tailored for the event.
At the service, there were special prayers for Nigeria, Ekiti State and Staff of the Board led by the Chairman of the Board.
