Ekiti Killings Scary, Senseless and Barbaric — Engr. Kayode Ojo

Speaking through his media aide, Deji Aiyelabowo in Ado-Ekiti, Engineer Ojo described the situation as senseless, scary, cruel and barbaric.

He urged security agencies to do everything possible to fish out the real killers and make them to face the wrath of the law.

The former All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in the State said the “seeming helplessness of the Police in crime control and prevention is worrisome ”

He said the act was not only despicable, but cowardly and unpatriotic.

According to him, he received the news of the brutal killings of three different residents of the State by some faceless and unpatroitic elements with rude shock.

“This despicable act must be condemned by all right thinking Nigerians, not only Ekiti reaidents.

” No doubt, the few criminal elements in our society are looking for opportunities to discourage or create fear in the minds of the people in the State so that evils can flourish.

We must not allow this,” he said.

Engineer Ojo reiterated that we must not allow evils to flourish in the society and called on the security agencies to  rise up to their responsibilities by exposing the evil elements from within.

“Let the community fish out the criminal elements who carried out these dastardly act and hand them over to security agencies.

“The killers are human beings, who are supposed to be traceable. They are no spirits, hence, all efforts should be made by all who are supposed to do the needful.

It could be recalled that three different souls were mowed down at different spots across Ado-Ekiti, the state capital a couple of days ago.

A commercial motorcycle tickter, was gunned down close to the Police Divisional Office at Okesha area, while a POS operator was killed at Adebayo area and another rice hawker was murdered close to the NSCDC office at the popular Oja-Oba market at Okesha by yet to be apprehended persons operating on motorcycle.

The APC stalwart  stated further that, “There is the need for urgent holistic measures to arrest the situation before degenerating to uncontrollanle uproar.

“There is need for all security agencies to work together as a team to form a formidable body to put an end to the ugly development in the state.

“The security agencies in the state should come together to work out a more professional modality to put an immediate halt to it.

“The police and other relevant security agencies must work together to bring the culprits to book to serve as a deterrent to others,” he said.

He commiserated with the immediate families of the victims, Ekiti people, the government and prayed God to console everyone over the loss.

He urged Ekiti people to always be their brothers’ keepers, stressing that our people should always be security conscious.”

The Ikoro-Ekiti born politician advised Ekiti residents to always assist the government and the security agents with useful and timely information whenever they noticed unusual visitors or movement around their environment.
