Council Chair, Engr.Toyin Ojo Solicits More Support For Gov. Oyebanji   … as he empowers PWDs in Ekiti

Moved by the challenges confronting the PWDs in the society, particularly in his Council area, the Chairman has taken his empowerment Programme tagged; “Social Investment Scheme” to them in his Council area.

The chairman while addressing the beneficiaries on Friday at Ado -Central Secretariat in Ado Ekiti, congratulated them for being counted worthy

The Council boss said his resolve to commence the payment of monthly stipend to the PWDs was borne out of his genuine concern about the poor living conditions of some of them.

In his remarks, the chairman  lamented various challenges confronting PWDs which include social stigma, discrimination, financial strains, employment disparities, violence and  poverty. He promised his administration’s readiness to pay the monthly stipend to the beneficiaries till the end of his tenure.

Advising the beneficiaries, the Council boss cautioned them  against spending the money on frivolities but on what could enhance their living conditions. Adding that should always engage in regular physical exercise.

Speaking at the event, the Special Adviser to Ekiti State Governor on Special Education & Social Inclusion, Princes Adetohun Agboola lauded the Council Chairman for the good initiative. She urged other Councils chairmen in the state to emulate the good gesture of Engr. Toyin Ojo.

Appreciating the chairman on behalf of other beneficiaries, Mr. Peter Ojo, applauded the chairman and described the empowerment scheme as first of its kind and unique in the anal of history of local governments in Ekiti  State since its creation in 1996. He pledged the support of Persons With Disabilities for Engr. Ojo’s administration including that of Governor Biodun Oyebanji.

Recall that Engr.Toyin Ojo flagged off the Social Security Scheme( Owo Arugbo) on Thursday this week where ninety vulnerable elders that are  above 70 years old would be receiving monthly stipend till the end of his administration.

Among other dignitaries at the event are; Ekiti State Director of Disabilities Affairs, Mr.Toye Akinlabi, PWD Project Coordinator in the State, Com.Tosin Adeleke, Vice Chairman of the Council, Alhaji Onipede Babatunde, Secretary to the Council, Princess Adenike Adeleye, Leader of the Ado Local Government Legislative Council, Hon.Babatunde Arogundade, Councilors, HLA, Com. Olaitan Alatise, Party Leaders and Directors.
