The Forum of Ekiti State Local Governments Information & Civic Orientation has elected new executives to pilot the affairs of the association for the next two years.
The Forum at its Triennial Conference held on Thursday, 21st December, 2023 at NULGE Multi- Purpose Hall, along Old Iyin road, Ado-Ekiti returned the incumbent chairman, Prince Ajibola Taiwo and seven other executive members unopposed citing the unprecedented remarkable strides recorded within two years in the saddle as reason.
The chairman electoral committee, Prince Tunde Adelusi, before the official announcement of the new executives, expressed delight over the roles played by the leadership of the organisation which led to peaceful composition of the new executives. He said proper consultation was made with elders before eventual adoption of consensus option .He charged the new officers of the Forum not to betray the confidence and trust members reposed in them.
The new executives as announced by the electoral chairman are Prince Taiwo Ajibola ,chairman, Mr Osalade Festus, Vice Chairman, Miss Yewande Akinwumi, Secretary, Mrs Oladija Omolara,Treasurer ,Mr Sunday Olatunji, Asst. Secretary, Mr Adewumi Thomas, Financial Secretary, Mr Adesuyi Micheal, Auditor while Mrs Adesola Yemisi emerged welfare officer.
In his acceptance speech, Prince Ajibola Taiwo expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all members for the genuine love and support given to him and his team throughout the first term in office. He said, “we might not be able to achieve so much if the leadership of the Forum backed out “
Prince Ajibola thanked the Executive Governor of Ekiti State. Mr Biodun Abayomi for signing into law the bill that birthed the creation of the department of Information and Civic Orientation in the Local Government in the state .
He lauded the critical roles played by the duo of immediate past Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Com. Rotimi Ojomoyela and the Permanent Secretary, Ekiti State Local Government Service Commission, Mrs Toba Ojo before and after the creation of Department of Information and Civic Orientation.
The chairman further pledged the readiness and commitment of his team to record more success stories in the second term .”I promised to build on the existing achievements “
Prince Ajibola, appealed to members to project the policies and programmes of Biodun Abayomi-led administration in good light adding that the Governor has demonstrated etoes of Omoluabi Ekiti people are noted for through his various developmental strides recorded across the state.
He urged members to contribute meaningfully at the Exco Meetings of their various local governments as he listed some of his achievements during the first term in office to include; release of grade level 16 promotion letters to the affected officers, creation of department of Information and Civic Orientation among others .
Congratulating the new executives, Mr Fasakin Sunday, Mr Familoye Stanley and Mrs Bimbo Yusuf commended the executives for their brilliant performance in the office. They advised them to see their re-election as a call to serve and urged them to do everything possible to surpass the previous achievements.
Mr Familoye Stanley called on members to comport themselves in a manner that befits the status of directors saying indulging in an unwholesome practices or activities might smear or carve bad image for the department.
Speaking in the same vein, Mr Fasakin urged members to improve themselves academically and belong to professional organizations that could be of great assistance to them.
It could be recalled that Prince Ajibola led executives were sworn in to office for the first term of two years in December 2021.
