Ekiti Environment Team Continues Understudy Tour In Lagos

Ekiti team on the understudy of the Lagos State Ministry of  Environment  and Water Resources, continued with a visit to the Department of Public Facilities Management, a department saddled with the responsibility of managing domestic wastewater by providing and maintaining sewerage network and treatment plants in Lagos State.

The delegation led by the Ekiti State Commissioner  for Environment, Mrs Tosin Aluko-Ajisafe was also at the Lagos State Waste Management Authority, where an official commended the Ekiti State government  for taking to what he described as workable plans of  Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources. 

It was disclosed that there are seventeen thousand sweepers working on shift, and about four hundred and fifty Private Sector Partnerships (PSP) as well as active five dump sites located in strategic locations across Lagos State.

The team also visited the Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission (LASWARCO), where it was received by the Executive Secretary, Mrs Funke Adepoju.

Mrs Aluko-Ajisafe and her team equally toured the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), otherwise known as as Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI), which was established in November, 2003 with the aim of ensuring general cleanliness of Lagos State, prevention of sales of food and cooking on roadside or sidewalks, arrests of persons who commit any offence under the new environmental sanitation laws.
