Ekiti Assembly Celebrates Deputy Governor’s Late Mother

The House described the demise of the Deputy Governor’s mother as an end to a dignified era, considering the deceased’s contributions to the development of Ikere Ekiti during her lifetime.

Madam Adegboye died last week Tuesday, at the age of 97.

The assembly’s Speaker, Rt Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, spoke in Ado Ekiti, while leading an 11- man delegation of the Assembly members to the Deputy Governor on a condolence visit, on Tuesday.

Consoling Mrs Afuye and showing solidarity at this trying time, Aribasoye sympathised with the number two citizen for losing such a priceless, caring and dedicated community leader to the cold hands of death.

Aribasoye urged the number two citizen to take solace in the legacies of kindness, honesty, dignity and humanity that outlived the deceased, and which he stated would make her memory lingers in the hearts of her admirers.

He commended the Deputy Governor for her loyalty to Governor Biodun Oyebanji, saying this has made the running of government frictionless and multiply the dividends of democracy accruing to the citizens.

“We are here to sympathise with you on the demise of your loving and caring mother. We knew how you feel at this moment of grief. Though to us in the assembly, we consider it a celebration of life because your mother lived and died peacefully.

“We knew how painful it is for one to lose a caring and loving mother. May her soul rest in peace.

“We identify with you at this moment, because we are partners in progress”.

On the invincible synergy between the state government and the legislative arm, Aribasoye, said: “We are solidly behind Governor, Biodun Oyebanji. We are using the occasion of this condolence visit to restate our solidarity and support for this government.

“I can say that this is the best Assembly we have ever had in the history of Ekiti, the one that anyone will wish for a state to grow”‘ .

Appreciating the lawmakers for their fraternity at this trying time, Mrs Afuye, commended the assembly for their solid backing for Governor Oyebanji, saying this has made government to be run seamlessly and without hitches.

Mrs Afuye urged the lawmakers to continually support the government and ensure that the dividends of democracy trickles down to the grassroots .

“I want to appreciate you for this visit, it is a sign of love and I don’t take it for granted. You have displayed enormous support for my boss and you are also stretching that hands of fellowship to my office.

“It is a thing of joy for me to have survived my mother. I am happy about this and God shall grant all of us such opportunity to live long and reap the fruits of our labour”.
