ACP Who Rejects $200,000 Bribe Converts To Islam

Following his conversion, Amah adopted “Muhammad” as his new name.

Speaking in Hausa, the Emir encouraged him to deepen his knowledge of Islam and uphold the religion’s core principles, including belief in Allah, daily prayers, fasting during Ramadan, pilgrimage to Mecca, and charitable giving (Zakat). The Emir prayed for divine guidance to help Amah excel as a devout Muslim.

He further advised Amah to maintain his exemplary character and respect his parents, regardless of their religious beliefs.

A Legacy of Integrity

ACP Muhammad Amah first gained national recognition as the Divisional Police Officer in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State when he declined a $200,000 bribe in April 2022. The bribe was offered by armed robbery suspects who had stolen over N300 million during a criminal operation. The main suspect, Ali Zaki, had masterminded the robbery of a Bureau De Change operator carrying $750,000 in cash.

In acknowledgment of his exemplary conduct, the Police Service Commission promoted Amah to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police on November 10, 2022. Additionally, former President Muhammadu Buhari presented him with the prestigious 2022 Public Service Integrity Award after a recommendation by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

ACP Muhammad Amah remains an inspiration for his unwavering commitment to integrity and justice, now further symbolized by his embrace of a new faith.
