The Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party ,PDP, for the 2023 general elections, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has assured the people of Ekiti State that, his administration would invest in capital development to justify being a state of educated people if voted into power.
Alhaji Abubakar who gave the assurance during the party’s presidential campaign in Ado -Ekiti, the State capital, described Ekiti as having more educated people than every other state in Nigeria. According to the former Vice President, ‘Ekiti State is a centre for intellectual discourse. I can assure you that the PDP government will make use of the human capital that God has endowed you with. We shall utilize the human resources that God has given you’.
He pledged that his government will provide all that the people of the State want if he comes to power. ‘Some people are talking about road from here to Akure, we will do it, not only that one, but all the roads that connects you to other states’.
The PDP presidential standard flag-bearer said his government will also ensure that Ekiti rural women will have businesses to do to have sources of income, saying that is why he pledged to set aside some substantial amount of money so that the young men and women who are to get involved in enterprises will be given loans to achieve their business pursuits.
The Vice Presidential Candidate, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa appreciated Ekiti residents for what he described as a surprised turn out despite some alleged challenges encountered by many people to get to the venue of the campaign.
National Chairman of the party, Dr Iyorchia Ayu said the PDP will be rebuilt to be a genuinely people’s party in Ekiti if Atiku Abubakar becomes victorious at the polls.Director-General Atiku/Okowa Campaign and Sokoto State governor Waziri Tambuwal posited that because of Ekiti’s educational prowess all the intellectual works by its people will be given protection when Atiku comes to power. Adding that the party will also create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
A PDP stalwart in the State and Senator representing Ekiti South Senatorial District, Abiodun Olujimi, said she was happy over the impressive presence of people from far and near to be part of the event. She urged the party’s supporters to come out in their numbers on the day of the election to cast their ballots for PDP candidate.
