Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State to maintain unity ahead of the 2027 primaries, stating that consensus candidacy remains the best option for ensuring party stability.

Addressing party stakeholders on Wednesday, the governor said direct primaries would remain available if efforts to reach a consensus fail.
He advised aspirants to exercise patience and avoid rivalry, cautioning that internal conflict could undermine the party’s electoral prospects.
“Your ambitions are recognized. Loyalty and consistency will be rewarded over time,” Aiyedatiwa told the gathering. He urged members to prioritise the collective interest of the party above personal aspirations.

The governor also warned against political violence and restated his administration’s commitment to improving security across the state. He highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects as part of efforts to deliver dividends of democracy to residents.
Party leaders at the meeting echoed the governor’s position, stressing the need for discipline, unity, and acceptance of candidates that emerge through the party’s processes.

Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed that the APC in Ondo State remains committed to internal democracy and cohesion as it prepares for the 2027 general elections.
