Popular Gospel Singer Dies at 50

The family confirmed his death in an official statement, describing him as a beloved husband, father, brother, and a highly respected figure in the Christian music community.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bolaji Olarewaju, affectionately known as ‘Big B’… His departure leaves a void in our hearts that cannot be filled,” the statement read.

Big Bolaji, who turned 50 in November 2024, was widely known for his energetic gospel concerts, especially the annual “Turn It Up With Big Bolaji” event held in Ibadan.

He was a certified estate surveyor by profession and hailed from Osun State, though he was raised in Ibadan. His spiritual journey began at the headquarters of The Sword of the Spirit Ministries under the mentorship of Bishop Francis Wale Oke. He later became an ordained minister with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).

He also served on the board of the Living Spring Music Festival and was a familiar voice on gospel radio shows across the southwest.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by the family. His legacy in music and ministry remains etched in the hearts of many.
