Fresh concerns over Governor Ademola Adeleke’s political future have prompted former Osun State governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, to suggest the Accord Party as a more reliable option for the governor’s re-election bid in 2026.
Rising from the deepening leadership crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Oyinlola noted that the uncertainty surrounding the party’s national structure could endanger Adeleke’s nomination ahead of next year’s governorship primaries.

During a Yoruba political programme, Oro Oselu, aired on Rave FM, the former governor dismissed suggestions that Adeleke might defect to APGA or the NNPP, saying both parties could attract needless ethnic interpretations.
Speaking on the matter, Oyinlola explained that the ADC lacked the political weight needed to secure victory in Osun, insisting that Accord Party remains the most logical alternative if the PDP crisis persists.
According to him, discussions about Adeleke’s next step will resume once the governor returns to the country, as consultations among key allies are still ongoing.
Highlighting the governor’s achievements, Oyinlola maintained that Adeleke’s performance in office has built enough goodwill to convince many residents to follow him to any platform he eventually chooses.
He stressed that Osun voters, in his view, are not ready to experiment with a new administration, especially when the current government has recorded visible progress.
