The Labour Party experienced a setback on Saturday as its presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, Mr Peter Obi, was unable to deliver his polling unit to the party during the Anambra governorship election.
Official results announced at about 3 p.m. from Polling Unit 019 in Agulu Ward 11, Anaocha Local Government Area, showed that the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Nicholas Ukachukwu, emerged winner with 73 votes.
The Labour Party’s candidate, George Moghalu, came second with 57 votes, while the All Progressives Grand Alliance secured 38 votes to place third in the contest.
The outcome was surprising to many observers, given that the polling unit is located in Agulu, the hometown of Mr Obi, who served as governor of the state between 2006 and 2014.
