Tinubu Directing Affairs from Abroad, To Return April 21 — Presidency

In a statement released on Thursday, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, said the President, who left Paris for London last weekend, has been fully engaged in governance and is in constant touch with key officials.

He confirmed that Tinubu is expected to return to Abuja on Monday, April 21, after the Easter holidays.

According to the statement titled “Statement On President Tinubu’s Return To Nigeria,” Onanuga said, “The President continues to give directives, including to security chiefs, to address emerging security threats across parts of the country.”

He stressed that Tinubu’s absence is temporary and within the earlier communicated timeframe, adding that the government continues to function effectively under his leadership.

“The President’s commitment to his duties remains unwavering. His administration is running smoothly, and there is no interruption in governance,” the statement noted.

While the purpose of Tinubu’s visits to Paris and London was not disclosed, the Presidency said the trip aligns with a pattern of working visits since he assumed office almost two years ago.

Thursday’s statement appeared to be in response to rising public concern and opposition criticism over the President’s extended stay abroad, especially amid security challenges in states like Plateau and Benue.

Onanuga called for calm and assured Nigerians that the President’s return is scheduled for after the Easter break.
